Event in Denmark, Mekavi, Bo Bedre, Brunklaus

Last Wednesday I did an event in Copenhagen, organized by Mekavi and the Danish home magazine Bo Bedre. Mekavi had a beautiful exhibition space prepared when i arrived  very white, large and high.

I spoke about my designs to the Bo Bedre readers and  it was great that even though the heavy weather conditions a big crowd  showed up.

Here you can find a video of the exhibition:

New York and Oslo

One of the things that have been on my agenda for a long time is to visit New York again.
I was there last week to visit  friends and colleagues and to just experience the creative energy of this big city.

I was very much inspired by the art bookfair at PS1, all art bookpublishers in one building displayed their book collections. I found a book on Merit Oppenheim and am still in search for a copy of Elsa Schiaparelli.
At the Moma I attended the opening of the
Building Collections: Recent Acquisitions of Architecture please follow this link
http://www.moma.org/visit/calendar/exhibitions/1114
I visited the Mood fabric store (project runway) in the garment district, what a great place for fabric lovers, left over fabrics from a wide range of fashion designers are just for sale in this shop.
From New york with a one day stop at the studio in Amsterdam I left for Oslo.
In Oslo at Eske: the shop was redesigned by Karina Holmen, Eske has a large range of Brunklaus design
from the house of anne, vintage forest, portrait pillows to the new colors of the shady tree lamp and the house of anne lamp.
The house of anne theme is inspired on my old boarding school that I attended when I was a little girl.
The day before the building got demolished all our girls (age range from 30 to 80) were invited for one last visit.
I was completly surprised that the building and interior were exactly the same  as when I was 10. For the collection see http://www.brunklaus.nl/en/collection/pillows/houseofanne

new collection

We are in the midst of preparing for the Paris show, and at the moment the new products come in from the various production places.
This is always very fulfilling since I work for months designing  and than  all the effort and work comes together.
Here are some of the new things .
I designed some scarves because I have a weakness for the prints that were also used on the silkpillows.
well enjoy........

Chateau de Menton, Haute Savoy, France

When I visited this fascinating 12th. century castle in its beautiful surroundings, I was surprised to find this insipring library with thousands of books all around, binded in leather and gold. The heritage of the family de Menton over the past eight centuries.

The view over the valley with the small village of Menton
looks like a 16 century painting

Interesting exhibition at Akinci Gallery Amsterdam

These sculptures by Tatiana Echeverri Fernandez are from her new series Frauleins.
Vases with a variety of historical styles and decorative patterns on top of each other.
The black colour gives them a universal view. These neutral monolytes  reveal a stripe of untreated porcelain a -Newmanzip- wich seems to divide the object with a sedimentary timeline.
From the exhibition 'Le Cercle Infernal ' till march 20 ,2010
At the Akinci gallery Lijnbaansgracht 317 Amsterdam
